Hi! Thanks to all your feedback and support since the prototype, PAGER has now been released as a full game with 60 floors!

The web version features a 10-floor demo. The full game experience is similar to the demo but features more levels and new things to discover.

I hope you enjoy it!

ABOUT THE GAME

You are wetware, working a mysterious job.

PAGER is a 1-bit 3D Kafkaesque experience in a 90s office building.
Obey the pager to survive and climb the corporate ladder.

FEATURES

  • 1-bit 3D graphics.
  • 60 weird and beautiful floors.
  • It has some horror and humor.
  • The story is conveyed in a very indirect way.
  • The levels aren't about the destination.
  • It shouldn't give you any satisfaction.
  • Caffeine-addicted butterflies.

Inspired by Severance, Franz Kafka, David Lynch, The Prisoner (1967), The Stanley Parable, Sonny Boy, Serial Experiments Lain

I hope you find it interesting! Thank you for playing!

(If this isn't already a floor, you're welcome for the idea.) A floor where you finally talk to the thing itself that gives you instructions.

(+3)

I know nothing about this game but I love the art

(+1)

why does it look so weird at a small scale

and how is that not happening to the images below the video

(+1)

hey, thank you!! For the game, the minimum resolution is 640x360, and it uses integer scaling and crisp pixels. For the images, the browser scales them by blurring so that might be the difference.

(+1)

integer scaling is such a chef's kiss detail for this aesthetic. love when devs actually understand the technical side of retro visuals instead of just slapping a filter on it

(+2)

Enjoyed this. Will there ever be a Mac version?

(+1)

nice and fun to play and i like the style and art and fun gameplay

(1 edit) (+1)

10/10 Would job again

(+2)(-1)

Pretty good! I could see myself playing the full version if it is free.

(+1)

this game was pretty good, solid 4/5, i enjoyed.

(+1)

I really don't know where the controls are only WASD and QP

(+1)(-5)

Very nice art style even though the short render distance is quite unpleasant visually, but there is no gameplay and all this walking around was ruined by the extremely annoying messages that forcefully stop you every few steps which is just unbearable. Taking away controls like that is the worst you can do while the player tries to explore the environment. I've never read that nonsense and still was able to finish the game, thus there is no place for it. Get rid of it and maybe then I will wishlist, but TBH I feel like I've seen everything this game can offer.

(+1)

i love how you made the game look, did you write the shader yourself or can i find it online

(+1)

Well that's pretty unusual, but I'm definitely intrigued. P.S. Awesome game!

:)

(+3)

This needs to be a PlayDate game! It looks awesome!

(+6)(-1)

i like butt

(+3)

This was amazing! Thank you for an awesome demo~ looking forward to the full game!

(1 edit) (+1)

I kinda think it would be cool if the sound effects were 1 bit aswell, this could maybe increase the immersion, maybe something like Tim follins startip 2.  on the zx spectrum

(+1)

This game is great!! Nice job :D

(1 edit)

(+1)

chromium on linux

(+1)
